ASD:Suite Contest - Use your ASD skills to win an iPad2
Verum is challenging software developers to efficiently build the coolest apps they can imagine which also take full advantage of the power of the ASD:Suite.
Develop an illustrative application for Android, iOS, Windows, Linux or any other supported platform, and you can win a new Apple iPad2 64GB Wi-Fi 3G.
Two ways to Win: Coolness or Efficiency
Coolness Verum will select the most impressive, innovative and illustrative applications for publication on our website. Subjective aspects such as the purpose of the application, it's complexity, use of concurrency and illustrative nature will factor in our decision; Outright coolness will also be a significant plus point. The first five applications that we publish will receive an iPad.
Efficiency
Seeing as we live in a faster and more competitive world we will also award five iPads to the most efficiently developed applications. Efficiency will be objectively measured using the following metric.
ASD utilization = Model Measure + Productivity Measure
Where:
Model Measure = Total Model Size / 100 + Number of Models
Productivity Measure = (Total Generated Code Size / Hours using the Model Builder) / 10
The Total Model Size is measured in ASD function points. The Total Generated Code Size will be referenced to counting lines of code in C++.
Contest dates
The competition opened on April 15, 2011. The registration is closed (July 12, 2011).
During the competition, the ASD community portal may be used to discuss development, and obtain support and advice from Verum’s engineers and the ASD community in general. A special competition forum is created for this purpose. We will provide frequent updates on the competitors progress during the competition period. Your entry must include a working illustrative software application and all the ASD models and supporting materials (handwritten code, makefiles, documentation, etc) necessary for us (or anyone else) to build and understand your entry.
All winners will be announced in September 2011, allowing Verum the month of August to evaluate the competition entries and select the winners. We are looking forward to the competition, this will be an exciting experience for all of us.
