Verum’s senior management team is composed of experienced professionals who have decades of success in managing and growing organisations. Their knowledge and insight enable them to lead Verum in the creation of products and services that meet our customers’ toughest software challenges.

Robert Howe, Chief Executive Officer

Robert Howe

Robert is a founder and CEO of Verum. He combines solid technical expertise in software engineering with a strong track record for building and developing businesses.

Howe joined GST Software Development in 1984, moving to The Netherlands with the firm in 1985. In 1989 he founded Mountside Software Engineering, a firm specialising in technical industrial IT services, and grew the business to 60 people before selling the company to Imtech in 2001.

Robert graduated from the University of Manchester in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics.

Guy Broadfoot, Chief Technical Officer

Guy Broadfoot

Guy is a founder and CTO of Verum. A veteran of the software development industry, he combines deep academic expertise with solid technical experience in developing products and turning round failed software projects. Broadfoot has been designing and implementing software projects since 1965, and in recent years has developed a specialised interest in the application of formal methods.

In 1986 Broadfoot founded Silverdata, a software company that developed products for marine navigation and hydrographic survey. He sold the product rights to private investors in 1998. Guy worked as a consultant to Mountside Software Engineering from 1998, where he was responsible for establishing a rigorous software project planning and financial control system.

Guy graduated with distinction from the University of Oxford in 2001 with a Masters degree in software engineering.

Dr Philippa Hopcroft, Head IP & Research Group

Philippa Hopcroft

Philippa, who has been an IP & Research professional with Verum since its foundation in January 2004, brings a wealth of expertise in many fields of software development. She completed a Masters degree in Computation with distinction in 1998, followed by a DPhil (PhD) in Computation in 2001, both achieved at Oxford University. Her PhD specialised in the application of Communicating Sequential Processes (CSP) and data independence to the formal verification of security protocols.

Dr Hopcroft was awarded a Junior Research Fellowship (Salvesen Fellowship) at University College (Oxford) in 1999, followed by a Research Assistant post at the Computing Laboratory. As well as continuing her research in security analysis, Hopcroft collaborated with Guy Broadfoot on the theoretical underpinnings of Analytical Software Design (ASD), and co-authored the resulting patent application.
